UPDATE as of MAY 6, SPECIAL TEMPORARY CORONAVIRUS RESTRICTIONS
Due to Federal, State & Local restrictions on social gathering we are unfortunately having to regulate group gatherings. The latest restriction according to the PHASE 1 PLAN IS AS FOLLOWS: groupings of 10 or less separated by a distance of 6 feet. A total number of is not specified. SO, IT SHOULD BE EASY FOR US TO ACCOMMODATE MOST MEDIUM SIZE FUNERALS IN OUR CHAPEL. Graveside funerals (unless extremely large) should be able to be attended by most, if not all, family and friends so long as group sizes are 10 or fewer and separated by 6 feet per group.
For now, all our employees will wear masks to better protect those we must come in contact with. We would encourage those attending group ceremonies to also wear a mask although it is not required. We consider your well-being as well the public health of our community to be of the utmost importance.
We are not the only funeral providers affected by these restrictions - the National Cemeteries, for instance, are not allowing any ceremonies whatsoever for any size group. They will allow 10 or fewer to witness a burial from a distance (usually from the road) but no ceremony. They will accommodate future requests for a ceremony after restrictions are lifted - a note here, based on my experience in dealing with national cemeteries and the government in general, there is ALWAYS an enormous backlog when things get going again.
Furthermore, none of the branches of military service are providing military honors for veterans right now due to these restrictions - not even at a private cemetery. For what it's worth - I am a Vietnam Veteran as are most of our funeral directors and we will fold a Veteran's flag and present to his or her family...we just won't be in uniform and it's been a while since we've worn one. We also have the same bugle that the military currently uses and are able to play taps for your veteran.
So, we will make sure military veterans get the funeral honors they deserve and are entitled to.
We also have the capability to live stream video or video record any ceremony for playback on our website.
So, for now, please know that we are honored to be of service to your family and pray that you stay healthy and safe.
