Winnie F. Gillespie, 84, of Blackshear, GA, passed away February 4, 2025.
Mrs. Gillespie was born in Waycross, GA and had been living in Blackshear for the past 16 years moving there from the Fernandina Beach- Yulee, FL area.
When she lived in Florida she attended the River of Praise Worship Center and worked many years as a cosmetic consultant at Eckerd Drugs.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert “Jack” Gillespie; brothers, Thomas “T.J.” Boatright and Daniel “Shorty” Boatright; and her sisters, Mevis McQuaig, Doris Harris and Quinell “Tootsie” Pittman.
She is survived by her daughters, Pamela Culver (Cleve) of Blackshear, GA and Brenda Hickox (Ephriam) of Folkston, GA; five grandchildren, Robert Culver (Courtney), Kristopher Culver (Kaitlyn), Shadi Bedell, Lake Bedell (Skyler) and Todd Hickox; two great grandchildren, Theodore Culver and Sunni Bedell; her best friend and cousin, Ann Eason; and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mrs. Gillespie enjoyed family outings and reunions. She is remembered fondly for hosting all the family in her home in Fernandina Beach. She also loved vacations and would never turn down an opportunity to enjoy a good meal with friends. She loved watching the “Young and the Restless” on TV and was a life-long fan of the show. Mrs. Gillespie was very crafty and skilled at card games and usually won. She also enjoyed doing puzzles. Most of all, she loved anything to do with her family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 8, in the Stephens Chapel of Green Pine Funeral Home with Pastor Rodney Thrift officiating. Interment will follow in Green Pine Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
