Thomas Crews

Thomas J. Crews, 77, of Yulee, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on December 1, 2025.

Born October 14, 1948, in Fernandina Beach, Thomas was a lifelong resident of Nassau County. He was a faithful member of River of Praise Worship Center, where he joyfully served in the men’s group, taking the gospel in song to residents of the Hilliard nursing home. In the late 1980s and 1990s, he sang tenor with the beloved quartet Sounds of Praise and was actively involved in media ministry at Oceanway Assembly of God.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Loraine Crews; his sister, Carolyn Whitley; and his brothers, Charles Crews and Kenneth Crews.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Beverly Crews of Yulee; his son, Jason Crews (Yulee); his daughter, Kelly Dekin (Jim) of Jacksonville; four cherished grandchildren, Luke Crews, Avery Sedlacek (Victoria), Abigail Sedlacek, and Andrew Sedlacek; and two precious great-grandchildren, Piper Crews and Caiden Hendricks.

A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Thomas’s greatest joy was time spent with his family—especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also loved hunting, fishing, and cheering on his favorite NASCAR drivers. Throughout his working life, he proudly served the community as a barber, an iron worker, and a camera operator at WJXT Channel 4.

Funeral services celebrating Thomas’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at River of Praise Worship Center, 83410 St. Mark Dr., Yulee, FL 32097, with Bishop Larry Osburn officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the church. Burial will follow at Bosque Bello Cemetery in Fernandina Beach.

Thomas will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his kind heart, faithful spirit, and the love he poured into everyone around him.
