Sherold Watkins, 76, of Fernandina Beach passed away Monday morning, November 18, 2024.
He was born in Homerville, GA, one of four sons born to Claude and Jewel Stone Watkins and was a member of the Amelia Island Masonic Lodge #47.
He was a U. S. Air Force veteran serving as a Sergeant with the security police. Sherold was stationed in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War. He suffered from Parkinson’s Disease as well as other conditions caused by exposure to Agent Orange. He retired from Anheuser-Busch in 2005.
Sherold was predeceased by his parents and his three brothers, Gary, Johnny and Terry Watkins.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Sue Watkins; his three sons, James Watkins (Anita) of Kingsland, GA, Joe Watkins (Susan), also of Kingsland, and Jason Watkins of Jacksonville, FL; eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
In addition to spending time with his family, Sherold loved fishing, riding around on his golf cart and eating his wife’s wonderful cooking.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 22, in the chapel of Green Pine Funeral Home with Rev. Jackie Hayes officiating.
