Sally Kagan Winston, 82, of Fernandina Beach, died peacefully on Saturday, October 10, 2020, at the Community Hospice Warner Center for Caring in Fernandina Beach, Florida.
Sally was a graduate of Atlantic City High School in Atlantic City, NJ. From there, she studied Nursing and graduated from the Albert Einstein Medical Center as a RN in Nursing. She continued her studies towards a Nursing Degree at Caldwell College in Caldwell, NJ.
As a nurse, in her early career she worked as a surgical nurse in Philadelphia, at Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia, as a psychiatric nurse at Overbrook Hospital in Essex County, NJ, became a Discharge Planner at Mountainside Hospital and finished her career as the Head Discharge Planner at Mountainside Hospital in Montclair, NJ. Sally also served on the Board of Hospice in Essex County, NJ and was active in Nursing Associations in NJ. She was a dedicated nurse and truly loved every moment of her career.
Sally and her husband, Joseph, moved to Fernandina Beach in 1994. She had many interests in art, music and books. She was a talented quilter and member of the Quilt Guild in Fernandina Beach. She won several ribbons for her beautiful and creative quilts. Sally was devoted to her family and was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Sally is predeceased by her son, Jeffery Louis Winston and mother, Sylvia Kolmetsky. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Winston, her daughter, Judith Winston, and her granddaughter.
