Ruby L. Meredith, 81, of Yulee passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at the Community Hospice Warner Center in Fernandina Beach.
Mrs. Meredith was born in Jacksonville, FL and moved to Yulee 50 years ago. She was a member of Blackrock Baptist Church.
She was the former owner of the Fernandina Beach Dairy Queen and former manager of Shell Gas & Flash Foods in Yulee.
Mrs. Meredith was predeceased by her husband, of 50 years, Charles R. Meredith; a daughter, Melanie A. Dennard; bothers, Leon McConnell and Fonnie McConnell; sisters, Margaret Deas and Wanda Brown.
Survivors include two daughters, Vanessa Darling (Jerry) and Jessica Meredith; a brother, Harold McConnell (Margaret); two sisters, Linda Prevatt and Janice Ferguson; four grandchildren, Justin Cothern (Pinyaphat), Ashley Jones (Rodney), Opal Johnson (David) and Marshall Darling; four great grandchildren, Alexandria, Melanie, Oakley, and Hadley; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Meredith loved God and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She gave to many charities and to those in need. She loved spending time will all her family more than anything. She liked to go dancing with her friends at the Woodbine Opry and loved doing jigsaw puzzles. She will be dearly missed by everyone that knew her.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, in the Stephens Chapel at Green Pine Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Camarotti officiating. Interment will follow in Green Pine Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Funeral Home.
