Robert “Bobby” George Gorman, Jr., SFC U. S. Army & National Guard, Ret., age 53 of Callahan, FL passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2020.
Mr. Gorman has made his home in Callahan for the over 25 years. He was a member of the American Legion and was retired from the U. S. Army & National Guard. He was a highly decorated veteran serving in numerous campaigns including Afghanistan. He was Special Forces and was a Freefall Jumpmaster among various other skills.
He loved all types of auto racing and was a die-hard Ford Man. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed boating and the great outdoors. Mr. Gorman loved to ride motorcycles and was extremely knowledgeable of automotive care.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Jessica Gorman; his father, Robert George Gorman, Sr.; and his grandfather, John William Seay, Sr.
Survivors include his wife, Michelle Gorman, of Callahan, FL; a son, Robert George Gorman, III, of Jacksonville, FL; two daughters, Christine Gorman and Jennifer Gorman, both of Jacksonville, FL; his mother, Linda Johnson, of Starke, FL; a brother, Billy Johnson, of Gainesville, FL; sister Tonia Garver, also of Gainesville; and three grandchildren, Sophie Gorman, Isabella Gorman and Robert George Gorman, IV.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 28, at Green Pine Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 29, at Blackrock Baptist Church, 96362 Blackrock Rd., Yulee, FL 32097. Interment will follow in Green Pine Cemetery with full Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest that memorial donations be made to your favorite children’s charity.
