Richard Lombardi Obituary

Richard Charles Lombardi was born in Brooklyn, New York on March 8, 1946 and passed away peacefully and with dignity on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, in Kingsland, Georgia surrounded by his family.

Richie (as he was known by most family members) enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and served his country during the Vietnam War.  His military service brought him south to Jacksonville, Florida where he met the love of his life Linda Kay (Thornton) Lombardi, and they were married at St. Matthews Catholic Church on May 24, 1969.  During their 54 years of marriage, they had two children Richard “Matt” Matthew Lombardi and Anthony “Tony” Charles Lombardi.  The family settled in Fernandina Beach, Florida in 1982, where Richie worked and retired from the United States Postal Service where he was an active union member and served on the board of the National Letter Carriers Association #53.

Richie was proceeded in death by his parents Paul and Anna Lombardi.  Brothers Pete Lombardi, Gerard “Jerry” Lombardi and Robert “Bobby” Lombardi.

He is survived by His wife of 54 years Linda Kay (Thornton) Lombardi.  Sons Richard Matthew Lombardi (Gary Caudill) of Atlanta, Georgia and Anthony Charles Lombardi (Tammy) of Kingsland, Georgia.  Two brothers Paul “Junior” Lombardi of Fayetteville, North Carolina and William Lombardi (Kathy) of Fernandina Beach, Florida.

His loving grandsons Michael A. Lombardi, Nicholas L. Lombardi and Connor L. Caudill.  A great granddaughter Christina Nicole Bailey and an abundant amount of loving family members.

Richie was a wonderful husband and an exceptional father, Papa and Big Daddy.  He always had a smile, joke, kind word, advice and laugh for everyone he met.  Family was the most important foundation and nothing was more important to him than his family.  He had a passion for genealogy and he loved to research, attend family reunions and gather data on our family tree.

The family will receive friends during visitation on Friday, December 1, 2023 starting at 10:00 a.m. Funeral service will follow visitation at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Green Pine Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will follow in Green Pine Cemetery in Yulee, Florida.
