Norman Lucio Obituary

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 14, at Yulee Baptist Church

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the Church.

 

Norman Keith Lucio, 87, of Yulee passed away February 19, 2023, in Nassau, Bahamas.  He was born February 19, 1936, on the Zuni Indian Reservation in Zuni, NM.  As a Native American Indian, he was a member of the Zuni Pueblo Tribe.

Mr. Lucio moved to Yulee, FL 58 years ago and was an active and faithful member of Yulee Baptist Church. 

He attended Chico High School in Chico, CA and graduated from Melbourne High School in Melbourne, FL.

He retired from the U. S. Navy after 22 years of service.  He was awarded the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for his service during the Cuban Crisis and awarded the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and Bronze Star for his service during the Vietnam War.

In 1996 he also retired from Rayonier after 20 years of employment with them.

Mr. Lucio was predeceased by his parents, Nicholas R. Lucio and Dorothy I. Martin; his mother-in-law, Laverne Minshew and by two brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marjorie Helen Jacobs Lucio of Yulee, FL; a son, Ryan Jacob Lucio, also of Yulee; three daughters and sons in law, Monica Michelle and Carl Setterlind of Asheville, NC, Hope Suzanne and Doug Duggan of Yulee, FL and Lori Ann and Leroy Williams of Pelham, GA; his father in law, Dave Minshew of Yulee and a sister, Gail Duncan who resides in Alabama.  Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Mr. Lucio enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, camping in the mountains and ocean cruises.  Having spent 22 years in the Navy, he continued his love of the sea by cruising with his family and friends.  He had enjoyed over 40 cruises.  On this last time at sea, the Lord called him home.

 Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 14, at Yulee Baptist Church with Pastor Doug Sides officiating.  Interment will follow at Jacksonville National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.  with full Military Honors provided by the U. S. Navy.  The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Yulee Baptist Food Pantry Ministry.
