Obituary

 

Mildred Mary Lhotka, 99, of Yulee, FL passed away Friday afternoon, April 28, 2023 at McGraw House Community Hospice in Jacksonville Beach, Fl.

 She was born November 6, 1923 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of  John Gabriel and Mary Ann Kus. 

She and  Joseph Lhotka were married January 31, 1947 for 62 years until his death in 2009. 

 In 1958, they moved to Jacksonville, FL from Chicago and later moved to Yulee. More important than anything else, Mrs. Lhotka was a housewife and mother.  She was a life long member of the Catholic Church. She attended Holy Rosary Church in Jacksonville, was a charter member of St. Patrick's and also attended St. Michael's in Fernandina Beach.

Survivors include three sons, Dan J. Lhotka (Amy Adams) of Tallahassee, FL, David M. Lhotka of Jacksonville, FL and Dennis J. Lhotka of Yulee, FL;  five grandchildren: Michael Lhotka, Melena Arrowood (Gary), Joseph Lhotka (Danielle), Adam Lhotka, John Lhotka; eight great grandchildren:  Jonathan Lhotka, Jacob Urbanowicz, Jessica Garvey (Christian), Shelby Theissen (Baron), Dalton Lhotka, David Lhotka, Zoey Lhotka and Logan Lhotka and 2 great great grandchildren: Emily Cercey and Ezekiel Theissen. 

She is preceded in death by her parents John and Mary Ann [Kus] Gabriel, siblings: Fred Gabriel, Benedikt Gabriel [infant], Frank Gabriel, Barbara Stella “Bert” Nagel, Boleslaw Gabriel [infant], Chester Gabriel, Anthony Gabriel, Mitchell E. Gabriel and her husband Joseph Lhotka.

 A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 12, at St. Michael's Church, 505 Broome St., Fernandina Beach, with Father Jose Kallukalam, celebrant.
