Lynda Ann Mixson

Lynda Ann Mixson, 61, of Yulee, FL, died on March 31, 2026, at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, FL, with her loving daughter by her side.

Lynda was born December 13, 1964 in Wheeling, WV, the daughter of Frank L. and Jennie M. Traugh.

Lynda was preceded in death by her mother, Jennie M. Traugh; her second husband Harry G. Mixson Jr.; and her brother-in-law Barry Garrison.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Amanda A. Wenzel, of Hilliard, FL, and her first husband Michael Wenzel, of Jacksonville, FL, both of whom compassionately and lovingly cared for her for the past six months as she courageously battled cancer. Lynda also is survived by her father, Frank L. Traugh; her siblings Katheen Garrison, Frank R. Traugh, and Sharon (Nat) Goudy, her nieces, Rachel (Richard) Pattison, Emma Pattison, Destiny Criswell, and Maria (Hayden Smith) Goudy, all of Wheeling, WV.  She also maintained a warm relationship ;with her former in-laws, Melvin and Florence Falck, of Jacksonville, FL

Above all, Lynda loved Jesus. Like St. Michael, she fiercely loved and was the protector of her family. Her happy place was Disney World in Orlando. Lynda’s career was dedicated to the care of animals in Nassau County, Florida. After decades of tireless animal advocacy, she retired from her non-profit animal rescue, RAIN Humane.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Green Pine Funeral Home Cremations and Cemetery, Yulee, FL. Per Lynda’s wishes, there will be no visitation, and interment will be at the convenience of her family.
