Latrelle Henley Wade, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on the day before her 85th birthday, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family, including her devoted husband of 68 years, Paul Wade, with whom she shared a life of love after marrying him at the young age of 16.
Born in Patterson, Georgia, and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, Latrelle later moved to Fernandina Beach in the late 1950s, where she built her home and raised her family. She is survived by her three children: Ronald Wade, Sandy Oliver (Dale), and Stephen Wade (Cherish); her five grandsons: Ronald Wade, Jr., whom she lovingly raised as her own son, Dennis Oliver (Rebekah), Jonathan Oliver (Hannah), Keith Oliver, and Stephen Wade, Jr. (Summer); and her two great-grandchildren, Michael Wade and Natalie Oliver. She is also survived by her sister, Faye Cowart. Latrelle was preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Williamson, Lurline Smith, and Mary Browning.
Latrelle was a woman of deep Christian faith who loved the Lord and found peace in her belief that she was going home to heaven. She was the embodiment of love and found great joy in caring for others, always supporting her husband and children. Her creative talents flourished in her love of crocheting, quilting, and sewing, leaving behind handcrafted treasures for her family. Latrelle also had a passion for genealogy, spending many hours researching her family’s history and connecting with her roots.
A graveside service will be held October 22, 2024 at 2:30 p.m. at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218. All are welcome to attend.
Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that she is at peace and reunited with her loved ones in the presence of the Lord.
