Karl Stephan Simmons, 75, of Callahan, FL, passed away on August 3, 2025. He was born in Fort Dix, New Jersey, to the late Walter and Else Gipper Simmons.
Karl married the love of his life, Wanda Simmons, in December 1977. A devoted father and husband, he was always there for his five children and his wife. Teaching math, chemistry, and physics was his lifelong passion. He also enjoyed hobbies such as agriculture, 4-H, astronomy, and volunteering in the community, including at several local agricultural fairs. Two of the many ways he served were as treasurer of the American Meteor Society and editor of Meteor News. Karl was known for his infectious smile and the laughter he brought to everything he did. In recent years, he treasured the time spent with his three grandsons.
He leaves behind five children: Wendy (Jim) Bowman, Stephen (Rachel) Simmons, Brian Simmons, Daniel (Diana) Simmons, and Matthew Simmons; along with three grandchildren: Carter, Andrew, and Liam.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, August 7th, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service on Friday, August 8th, at 11:00 a.m. Both services will take place at Green Pine Funeral Home in Yulee, FL. Interment will be in Green Pine Cemetery
Karl will be deeply missed by his spouse, children, grandchildren, friends, and the community.
