John Boylan Obituary

John Stephen Boylan went to be with our Lord on March 12, 2024.  He was 64 years old. He is survived by his wife, Kim Boylan, his daughter Adriana Boylan, daughter Colette Boylan (son-in-law Ian Kaye), daughter Hannah Harding, and brother Rob Boylan. He is preceded in death by his parents.

John was born in Queens, NY and spent most of his childhood in Ohio and Munich, Germany. He lived in Pennsylvania where he raised his daughters until they left for college. He moved to Fernandina Beach in 2010 where he began the last chapter of his life, met his wife Kim, and enjoyed his final days.

John graduated from Miami University with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Science (College of Engineering and Computing).  After he graduated from college, he enjoyed his career of 25 years and retired from Procter & Gamble. After a few years of retirement, he moved to Florida and started working with Westrock. John loved being an engineer.

John loved golfing!!  He also loved the band Chicago, being outside, international and domestic travel, New York City, the NY Yankees, spending time with family and friends, watching golf tournaments or any sport, and his new love of hunting shark teeth (he always found bigger ones than Kim).

He was very involved with the Fernandina Beach Rotary Club.  John served as President 2 times, Assistant District Governor, Rotary Exchange Kids, District Level in Youth Services coordinating the annual Youth Exchange weekend in Fernandina Beach for around 7 years, and the Boy Scouts - he also helped scouts get closer to earning Eagle Scout award, which he was awarded in 1974 while living in Munich, Germany.  He was a Paul Harris Major Donor.  John and his wife, Kim, met at the Fernandina Beach Rotary Club meeting in 2010 and married in 2013. The Rotary Club of Fernandina Beach will be naming one of their annual High School Scholarships in honor of John. High School Seniors each year have the opportunity to be awarded a scholarship from our club and applications available at all Nassau County High Schools.  John served on Micah’s Place Board for two terms.  He was currently serving on our local YMCA Board and the PAB Board.

John’s Celebration of Life will be held April 20th, 2024 from 2 to 4.  Location: Council on Aging in the Clear Grand Hall (1901 Island Walk Way, Fernandina Beach FL 32034).

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Rotary Club of Fernandina Beach Charitable Fund, Inc. (PO Box 16046, Fernandina Beach, FL 32035; EIN 03-0568441, 501C3); or Micah’s Place (micahsplace.org), or planting a tree in John’s name.  In addition, the family wants everyone to take the time to talk, listen and learn (not judge) about Mental Health and Suicide Prevention (afsp.org).
