Jessica New

It is with great sadness that the family of Jessica Rae New, 36, announce her passing on Friday, October 11, 2024. Jessica was a native of Fernandina Beach, born on January 22, 1988 to William (Bill) and the late Kimberly New.  She had lived in Hilliard, Florida and Kingsland, Georgia before moving back to Fernandina in 2020.

Jessica attended elementary and middle schools in Hilliard, Florida and Camden County High School.  After high school, she worked at Cisco in Kingsland where she was often seen in the parking lot driving the golf cart with her very special cat, Kenya beside her.  She then worked for Amtel in St. Marys, Georgia, where she worked her way up from customer service representative to supervisor and to training coordinator.  One of her proudest accomplishments was rewriting their training manual.  Her critical thinking and problem solving skills contributed much to the company. But even more so, Jessica had a way of smoothing out even the most difficult customers and situations. After Amtel, she joined the investment division of Bank of America until her health limited her work.

Jessica was preceded in death by her mother, Kimberly New, and nephews Sebastian and Caleb Bain. She is survived by parents Bill and Diane New; sister Angie Harris, brothers Michael and Joe Bain; grandmother Shirley New; aunts Toni (Harold) Bennett, Joy Priest; uncle Mike (Melinda) New; longtime boyfriend Derrick Washington and her beloved niece and nephew Hailey and Dalton Harris.  We will all miss Jessica’s bright smile, contagious laughter and special sense of humor.

Services will be held Friday, October 18 at 11am at Blackrock Baptist Church, 96362 Blackrock Rd, Yulee, FL.   The family will receive visitors for the hour before services.
