Janet Courter

Janet Courter passed away on Thursday February 6, 2025, in Fernandina Beach at the age of 85. She was born September 13, 1939, in Superior Wisconsin.

Janet was the founder and beloved owner of Step By Step Learning Center for 22 years. She dedicated her life to providing a nurturing and loving environment for the children in our community.  

She loved going to Biloxi Mississippi and staying at the Hard Rock Casino and enjoyed family outings and reunions.  

Janet was predeceased by her parents, Lloyd and Ardith Bourdage; her husband of 43 years, Walter Courter; brothers Ron Bourdage and Terry Bourdage, and stepson, James Bissonnette.  

She is survived by her Sister Gloria Heytens (Paul Heytens); daughter, Vicki Courter; son, Rusty Wise (Renee Wise);step daughter, Deborah Lamb (Richard Girard); step son, Wayne Bissonnette  (Lucienne Russ); grandchildren, Cassandra Wise, Randy Wise, April Wheeler and Christopher Lamb; several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews; and other close family members, Tim & Linda Mardegan, Richard & Lisa Courter, Robert & Jean Courter, and Arthur & Helen Paige. Also surviving are 2 godchildren Casey Walker & Kate Walker, and all the Employees of Step By Step Learning Center.

There will be a celebration of life on Saturday March 1st at 11:00am in the Stephens Chapel at Green Pine Funeral Home, with Jackie Hayes officiating.
