Jane Hedgecock, loved sister, aunt, great aunt, friend and “cat lover” passed away Monday morning, April 13, 2026, at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, FL. She was 74 years old and was born November 17, 1951, in High Point, NC.
Jane attended the University of South Carolina before working at the family business. She managed Hedgecock Builders Supply in Greensboro, NC until its closing several years ago.
Jane was a “Cat Lady” loving all cats. Her latest cats, Bob and Charlie have been adopted into loving families. Jane was a woodworker and basket maker (especially Nantuckets). She exhibited her baskets in Fernandina Beach at Amelia Island Art Association and the Blue Door.
Jane and Mom lived in Yulee since the early 2000’s where she was her mother’s caretaker for many years. She had recently moved to Kingsland, GA.
Jane is survived by her sister, Anne Owsley and nephews, David (Jessica) and Daniel (Amanda) Owsley. She had great nieces and nephews – McKay, Campbelle, Callahan, Davidson, Joe, Scarlett and Butler.
Jane is preceded in death by her Dad and Mom – J.S. and Elizabeth Hedgecock; her beloved brother-in-law, Mike Owsley (Anne)recently passed away also. Jane had her eye corneas donated at her death. This donation will restore sight to two people.
Service will be at Green Pine Funeral Home Wednesday, April 29, at 2:00 p.m. with visitation at 1:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to Anne’s home after the service. Reverend Rob Goyette will be officiating the service.
Jane’s ashes will be taken by her family to Lebanon Methodist Church in High Point, NC at a later date where she will be placed beside her Mom And Dad.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cat’s Angels or a Humane Society of your choice..
