Hoyet E. Sawyer, I

Hoyet E. Sawyer, I, 83, of Yulee passed away July 16, 2020 at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville.

Mr. Sawyer was born in Vidalia, GA and moved to Yulee in 1978 from Jacksonville, FL.  He was a member of the Church of God.  He served 10 years with the Florida National Guard and retired from Anchor Hocking Glass Co. with over 43 years of employment.

He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Kathleen Sawyer;  his parents and his brothers and sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Hoyet E, Sawyer, II (Robin) of Yulee, FL and Keith Sawyer, also of Yulee; a daughter, Austine Wood (Doug) of Maysville, GA; seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. 

Mr. Sawyer enjoyed riding motorcycles and riding the back country.  He enjoyed camping in the mountains and loved to tell stories.  He also enjoyed college football, especially the Georgia Bulldogs and the Miami Hurricanes.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, at Green Pine Funeral Home with interment in Green Pine Cemetery, Pastor Mark Woods officiating.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, suggested social guidelines will be followed in order to protect Mr. Sawyer’s family and those guests attending.
