Hoby Unkelbach, born on March 16, 1952, in Arlington, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2025, in Jacksonville, Florida. He was 72 years old.
Hoby is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Jan; his two sons, Kurt and Stephen and their wives Katy and Ashly; and five cherished grandchildren, Lily, Sophie, Jackson, Monty, and Everly. He is also survived by his brother, Mike, with whom he shared a close bond starting with their upbringing in the Arlington area.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Monetsi, and his brother, David.
Hoby spent his entire adult life as a proud member of the Jacksonville community. A man of deep faith and devotion, Hoby dedicated much of his life to sharing the Lord’s Word through song. His voice resonated across hundreds of churches in dozens of states, touching countless lives with his heartfelt ministry. His unwavering commitment to spreading hope and inspiration through music left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of hearing him sing. Hoby’s legacy is one of love, faith, and service. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and inspire others to carry forward his spirit of kindness and devotion.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, January 19th at 2:00 p.m. at Arlington Baptist Church, 6009 Arlington Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32211, with a reception to follow.
