Evelyn Mae Lockwood, née Wolf, entered the presence of her Savior on June 17, 2026, after a life devoted to faith, family, and service. Born on May 9, 1956, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to William and Evelyn Wolf, Evelyn was the oldest of five children and spent her life caring for others with a loving and generous heart.

In July 1976, she married John B. Lockwood Jr., and together they built a family centered on love, faith, and commitment. Though she endured the loss of her husband in 2004 and later the loss of her beloved son Jason in 2016, she continued to demonstrate remarkable strength, compassion, and unwavering devotion to those around her.

Evelyn's life was defined by service. As the oldest of five children, she naturally stepped into the role of caregiver from an early age. Later, she devoted herself to her family as a loving wife and mother, creating a home filled with warmth, home-cooked meals, creativity, and encouragement. She taught her children valuable life skills, including how to cook and sew, and spent countless hours beside them in the kitchen sharing recipes, laughter, and lessons that would last a lifetime. Whether preparing family meals or baking treats, she loved including her children in the process, often giving them their own dough to roll out and create with while she worked. Through these simple moments, she passed down not only practical skills but also the joy of family, togetherness, and caring for others.

After graduating from Mastbaum Vocational High School in Philadelphia, Evelyn moved to Florida in 1992 and spent many years serving students and families through the Clay County and Nassau County school systems. Throughout her career she worked as a paraprofessional, bus aide, cafeteria worker, sanitation worker, and in many other support roles. No matter the position, she approached every task with humility and a servant's heart.

Evelyn's greatest passion was her faith in Jesus Christ. She often shared fond memories of attending church with her grandmother as a child, and she faithfully passed that legacy on to her own family. Thanks to her example, her children grew up knowing the Lord and witnessing a life lived in faithful service to Him.

She was a devoted member of Legacy Baptist Church in Fernandina Beach, Florida, where she joyfully served in the nursery and wherever help was needed. She dearly loved her church family and treasured the fellowship and friendships she found there.

Those who knew Evelyn remember her as kind, nurturing, generous, and selfless. She would gladly give her time, resources, and energy to anyone in need. She rarely held a grudge, except when it came to protecting the people she loved. Her love for her family was fierce, unconditional, and steadfast.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Lockwood Jr.; her son, Jason; and her parents, William and Evelyn Wolf.

She leaves behind a loving family, including her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, extended family, cherished church family, and many friends whose lives were touched by her kindness and faith.

While her family grieves her absence, they rejoice in the assurance that she is now home with the Lord she loved and served throughout her life. They take comfort in knowing that the seeds of faith she planted continue to bear fruit in the lives of her children and future generations.

Her family is especially grateful for the precious time they shared with her during her final year. Those moments of healing, laughter, fellowship, and love will remain treasured gifts. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of faith, service, and unconditional love will continue to shine through all who knew her.
