E. W. Jimmy Bevill age 74 went to be with the Lord and loved ones in heaven on March 11, 2026.
Jimmy had a tremendous way of touching the hearts of everyone he met and treated them as family. To know him was to love him.
Jimmy was born and raised in Jacksonville. He was a graduate of Tech High school in 1970 as a certified welder. While attending tech school, he worked part-time at Longs wheel and rim when it was located on Webb Road in Jacksonville. In 1987 he was asked to start the business Southern Wheel and Rim where he retired in 2014. He loved his work and was always proud of the business accomplishments. He loved to tell people how he made the very first set of wheels for the well-known monster truck “Bigfoot.”
Jimmy’s hobbies over the years included beach buggies at the jetties in the 1970s and 1980s, fishing and hunting, especially in South Carolina and of course there were weekly aggravation marble games that span from the early 1970s to just a few weeks ago and the guys won more than the girls. He also enjoyed riding Harley's with friends in Colorado, the Smokey Mountains, Sturgis and even Hawaii.
He was preceded in death by parents, Ernest and Peggy Bevill, sisters Becky Bevill and Julie Merritt and his brother, Wally Bevill. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Peanut Bevill; son Kenneth Bevill (Tanya); daughter, Pamela Bevill and granddaughter, Zoe Bevill; sisters Sandra (Richard) Albert, Ida Bevill, Tina (Johnnie) Francisco, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
In 1971 Jimmy married the love of his life, Peanut. They started dating when she was 15 and he was 16. You rarely saw one without the other, and they did everything together and always in competition with one another. Jimmy loved his children Kenneth and Pamela, (also known as Pammy-Poo) and was always proud of their accomplishments. Jimmy loved his daughter-in-law, Tanya, and his precious granddaughter, Zoe, and worried he would not live to see her graduate from kindergarten; he actually saw her graduate from high school. She is his Zoe Bug.
In 2011 Jimmy had a double lung transplant at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville and was given a second chance at life. Being so grateful for his donor, he truly took care of himself and was always cautious during flu season. He always wore a mask. He loved his Mayo family and all the people who cared for him over 15 years which he just celebrated on February 22, 2026.
Everyone knows Jimmy‘s favorite color was red, but believe it or not, until 1980 he used to be in all blue. Everyone is encouraged to wear red at this celebration of life.
A friend is someone who reaches for your hand and touches your heart. Life is not measured by the breaths we take. But by the moments that take our breath away.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 21, at Good Samaritan Church 44 Jericho Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32218. Interment will follow in Green Pine Cemetery, Yulee, FL. The family will receive friends Saturday, March 21, at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
