Curtis James Brown, Sr. (“BD”), 73, of Callahan, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home on July 21, 2025. He was born on May 17, 1952, to the late George Harold Brown and Katherine Margaret Brown.
Curtis lived a life defined by hard work, deep faith, and love for his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and friend whose kindness, loyalty, and steady presence touched all who knew him. An avid outdoorsman, Curtis loved to spend time hunting, a passion he shared with friends and family over the years.
He dedicated 25 years of community service as a volunteer Reserve Officer with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, where he proudly served and protected his community. In addition, he devoted 43 years of service as a gas man with TECO Peoples Gas Company, earning the respect and friendship of countless coworkers and customers.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Cindy Brown; his three sons, Curtis Brown, Jr. (Toni), Christopher Brown (Coreylyn), and Cory Brown (Amanda); his eight cherished grandchildren(Haley, Makenzie, Corbin, Davis, Kendall, Jameson, Jagger, and Barrett); and his brother, Carl Brown (Mary Jo).
He was predeceased by his sister, Lila Williams (Jeff).
Curtis will be remembered for his warm smile, his unwavering support for those he loved, and the many lessons he imparted through both words and actions.
A private family service will be held to honor Curtis’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to diabetes research in his memory.
