Charles Robert "Bob" Huntoon Obituary

Charles Robert “Bob” Huntoon III, 72, of Yulee, FL passed peacefully away surrounded by his family on January 1, 2024, at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, FL.

Bob was born in Providence, RI on December 4, 1951. He and his loving wife, Deborah Huntoon were married on May 24, 1975. They raised their family in Sanford, ME where he also started his long-time career at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a Machinist. In 1994, he relocated his family to Yulee, FL where he spent the next 19 years working to complete his 42-year career with the Department of Defense. He retired from the Trident Refit Facility, Shop 38 in December of 2022.

Bob was predeceased by his parents, Charles Huntoon Jr., and Gloria Huntoon (Anderson) and his two brothers, Richard, and William “Eddie” Huntoon.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Deborah “Debbie” Huntoon; his son Charles Robert “Bobby” Huntoon IV (Debbie Emeterio); his daughter Stefanie Nordeng (Scott); two grandchildren, Kailey Parent (Justin) and Kaitlyn Nordeng; along with multiple in-laws, several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews who all loved and adored him.

Bob wore the most impressive mustache any man could dream of! He was an avid Boston Red Sox and New York Giants fan. He easily drew people to himself and always had a joke to tell. He never passed a dog without petting it and always volunteered to be anyone’s photographer looking to get their picture taken. He was jokingly referred to as “The Cable Guy” from his family due to the way that he always put his family plans on hold to help anyone he saw on the side of the road with car troubles. He coached numerous sports teams as his children were playing and always encouraged them to do their best. Even after his children were grown, he continued coaching at the Amelia Island Soccer Club. He believed in his family with all his heart.

Saturday, January 13, 2024, a visitation will be held at 1pm, followed with funeral services at 2pm. Funeral and visitation will be at the Stephens Chapel at Green Pine Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, Bob’s family requests that donations be made to the Pets4Vets Organization or the Shriners Hospital for Children.
