Charles Toliver Obituary

Buddy Toliver, 91 of Saint Marys, Georgia passed away April 25 peacefully surrounded by his family at Lakes Crossing in Kingsland Georgia. Mr. Toliver was born in Hopewell Virginia. Having spent most of his childhood in Tuscaloosa Alabama, Buddy was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide football fan.  Mr.  Toliver loved Jesus, his country and his family. He served his country in the Navy during the Korean war.  After completing his time as a military serviceman, Buddy became a papermaker and moved first to Saint Marys, then to Yulee while working at Gilman Paper Company as a machine tender.  Buddy loved papermaking and retired from Gilman Paper Company after many years of service. He served his community coaching youth league football in St Marys and after retirement was a volunteer at Baptist Nassau Hospital. Six years ago, Buddy moved back to Saint Marys.  He loved his family fiercely and firmly believed each one was the smartest, best looking and most accomplished person on the planet.  Buddy was an avid teller of stories and spread joy and smiles to everyone he met. Buddy spread a positive outlook with everyone he talked to.  If you ever asked how he was, he would always reply “I don’t have no bad days. Some days are just better than others.”

He was predeceased by his parents Charles Senior and Ola Toliver, a brother, Kenneth Toliver and his loving wife of 66 years Betty Jo Muldin Toliver.

Survivors include: His Sister Gwen Bush of Gainesville Florida, Children Debra Walker of St. Marys, David Toliver (Charmane) also of St. Marys, and Angela Spikes (Ricky) of Yulee Florida, a Sister in Law, Joan Mauldin of Yulee Florida along with numerous grand children, great grand children and great, great grandchildren.
