Charles Hinton Gaines

Mr. Charles Hinton Gaines, born January 28, 1929 of Fernandina Beach Florida, passed away on June 16, 2025 at river city rehabilitation/Hospice in Jacksonville Florida.
The only child of Willie J. and Pauline Gaines (Morris), a dairyman and owner of Gaines and Son Dairy on Amelia island Florida, Mr. Gaines attended and graduated from Fernandina Beach High School class of 1947.  He then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and attended Radio School in San Diego, California. Charles served in the Korean War 1950 and became one of an elite group referred to as the Chosin Few.  Mr. Gaines and His wife Ruth, who precedes him in death, were members of the Blackrock Baptist Church. He is survived by a son, Charles Cecil Gaines, a daughter Barbara G. Harper(Husband Curtis), two stepdaughters Marcia Gardner and Rhonda Jensen (Husband James), eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A graveside service shall be announced at a later date.
