Carl D. Lindsey, Sr.

Pastor Carl D. Lindsey, Sr., passed away Sunday, September 22, 2024.

He was born in Flint, MI and moved to Fernandina Beach in 1991.  He has been the pastor of Community Baptist Church in Yulee since 2018.

Pastor Lindsey was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Phyllis Lindsey; a brother, John Lindsey, Sr.; three sisters, Ruth Ann Neeley, Donna Camp and Linda Brown;  and his father-in-law, Jerry Gilbert, Sr.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Cindy M. Lindsey; two sons, Carl D. Lindsey, Jr. (Ashley) and Christopher R. Lindsey (Alina); five daughters, Terri D. Warington (Brian), Crystal M. Smith (Byron), Cindy N. Walters, Christina J. Barron (Carey) and Charity F. Naugle (Jacob); a brother, James Lindsey; sister, Loretta Mansfield; his mother in law, Joyce E. Gilbert; and 16 grandchildren.

Carl was a devoted, loving husband, father and grandfather.  He loved spending time with his family and loved studying God’s Word.  He never met a stranger.  He was a jokester and a prankster and enjoyed golfing and travelling, especially to the islands of Hawaii. He was the Big Kahuna, as he would have said.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, Wednesday, September 25, at Springhill Baptist Church, 941017 Old Nassauville Road, Fernandina Beach, with Rev. Jackie Hayes officiating.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time-of-service Wednesday at the church.  Interment will follow in Hughes Cemetery in Yulee.
