Bonnie Whetsell-Rodda Obituary

Bonnie Jean Whetsell-Rodda, 70, passed away Wednesday morning, May 10, 2023.

She was born January 19, 1953, in Akron, OH, the daughter of Charles (Bo) and Patricia (Peggy) Whetsell

She spent her entire life bringing light into the lives of others with her unconditional love.  Her cackling laugh was unique and highly contagious in every setting from childhood to the beaches of Florida where she spent her last years enjoying the sun and relaxing after 30 years of working in the West Carrollton school system.

Her favorite story when anyone would ask her what kind of job she had was telling others that she “took children’s lunch money from them.”  Later she also worked as an aid on the buses with her best friends who would become soulmates.

Her beautiful smile lit up every room she entered and her most cherished accomplishments in life were her two beautiful daughters and their children.  Her heart was as big as her smile and her grandchildren owned every piece of it.  There was absolutely nothing she wouldn’t do for them, and the feeling was obviously mutual when they were together.

Her friendships with others were strong, lasting and unconditional.  It would be impossible to innumerate the number of family and friends who have lost a piece of themselves with her passing. She leaves us with more than a few amazing and irreplaceable memories to keep us smiling until we meet again.

Mrs. Whetsell-Rodda was predeceased by her parents, former husband and father of her children, John Rodda and friends, Cindy Berenyi and Amy Kerr.

Survivors include her daughters, Jackie Rodda McIntyre and her husband, Jason McIntyre and Abbie Rodda Clark, husband, Brandt Clark, all of Fernandina Beach, FL; grandchildren, Heavenly, Hope, Hayes and Georgia Rose; three brothers, Larry Whetsell and wife, Diane, Carl Whetsell and former wife Marjorie, and Charlie Whetsell; a sister, Karen Wise and her husband, Gary; and her nieces and nephews, Brittainy, Larry, Chris, Patrick, Brooke, Brianna and Bo.

A Celebration of Life will be held this fall in West Carrollton, Ohio as well as Akron, Ohio.

Per Bonnie’s wishes, she will be laid to rest amongst the waves in Florida to continuously play on the beaches with her grandchildren.
