Obituary

Barbara Jean Wingate, 79, of Yulee went home to be with her Lord Thursday morning, June 22, 2023.

She was born March 23, 1944, the daughter of Harold and Aletha Middleton, in Jesup, GA and moved to Yulee 56 years ago from the Oceanway area of Jacksonville, FL.

Mrs. Wingate was a member of the River of Praise Worship Center where she assisted with the nursery and brought her excellent home-cooked food to church events.

She was predeceased by her husband, Roy Cecil Wingate; two sons, Barry Wingate and Harold Alvin Wingate; her father, mother and three siblings.

Survivors include a son and daughter in law, Allen and Ann Wingate of Yulee; daughter, Connie Wingate of Independence, VA; daughter in law, Tina Wingate of Yulee; a brother, Eddie Middleton of Nahunta, GA; five grandchildren, Heather Wingate, Amy Taylor (Jeremy), Adam Wingate (Chelsea), Casey Wingate (Justin) and Brandon Wingate; seven great grandchildren, Joshua, Emily, Mason, Brantley, Paisley, Riley and Elijah; and her cousin Janice Miller (Bill).

She enjoyed making blankets, quilting, shopping, camping and fishing.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, at the River of Praise Worship Center in Yulee. Interment will follow in Hughes Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Green Pine Funeral Home.
