Barbara Whiddon, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed from this life on Friday, October 14, 2022.
A Florida native, she was born in Mayo and lived in Perry, Orange Park, Coral Springs, Port Orange, and Jacksonville before making her home in Nassau County for the past 30 years.
She was a member of the Fernandina Beach Church of Christ. She was a long-time employee of Underwood Jewelers and Waas Drugs.
She is predeceased by her husband of 57 years, R.E. “Whit” Whiddon (2015) and great-granddaughter, Anna Eldridge (2021).
She is survived by her son Ronald Whiddon of Fernandina Beach and daughters Deborah Curtis and Donna Perry (Michael) both of Fernandina Beach. She is also survived by four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Best known as “Gee-Gee”, she loved all animals, especially dogs and adopted many rescue dogs throughout her lifetime. She loved people and was known for her thoughtful gift-giving. Most of all, she loved the Lord and displayed that love in all of her words and deeds.
Her memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 23, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the Fernandina Beach Church of Christ. A graveside ceremony will be held on Monday, October 24, 2022 at 11:00 am at Jacksonville Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution can be made to the Nassau County Humane Society.
