Alton O. Smith

Alton O. Smith, 80, passed away Sunday morning, October 8, 2023, at his Yulee residence.

Mr. Smith was born in Mobile, Alabama and moved to Yulee 20 years ago.

He served four years with the United States Marine Corps and attended Blackrock Baptist Church.  He retired from Kimberly – Clark Corporation  where he was a pulp mill operator.

He was predeceased by his wife, Brenda Smith, and is survived by three sons, Mike Smith (Sonya), Troy Smith (Denise) and Rick Smith (Marion); a daughter, Lori Michelle Smith-Hurrion (Andrew); five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Mr. Smith loved his family very much and enjoyed spending time with them. When his children were young he always took them on camping and fishing trips. He enjoyed watching movies on TV and was known to be a kind, sweet, honest man.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 11, at 3:00 p.m. in the Stephens Chapel at Green Pine Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Camarotti officiating.  Interment will follow in Green Pine Cemetery where Mr. Smith will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.  Military honors will be provided by Vietnam Veterans of American Chapter 1088.
