Jay Gordon Obituary

 

 

 

Jay K. Gordon, 65, of Callahan passed away Saturday, July 27, 2019.

 

He was born October 30, 1953 in Jacksonville, FL.  He graduated from Andrew Jackson in 1971.    He was a member of First Baptist Church of Callahan. 

 

Mr. Gordon retired from Bell South after 30 years; then worked as Florida Operations Manager for Byers Engineers for 10 years. The last several years he was a Youth Mentor at JYA.

 

He loved spending time with his family and close friends, traveling, mentoring the boys at JYA, loved talking about investing, watching football, and fishing.  

 

Mr. Gordon was predeceased by his father, George W. Gordon; his mother, Betty Gordon and a brother, Glen R. Gordon.

 

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Wanda G. Gordon of Callahan, FL; his son, Jay K. "Gordy" Gordon, Jr. (Toni) of Hilliard, FL;two sisters, Georganne Gearen (Paul, deceased) of Jacksonville, FL and Judy Glanville (Dan) of Jacksonville FL; and one grandchild, Kacy Harper of Crittenden, Kentucky, several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services were held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, August 2, in the chapel at Green Pine Funeral Home with Dr. Lynn Hyatt officiating.  Interment was in Green Pine Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were Danny Stevens, Russell Stevens, Travis Stevens, Dan Glanville, Myron Thomas and Devein Carroll

 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Youth Mentorship Program at JYA.  Donations should be made through Evangel Temple of Jacksonville, FL  5755 Ramona Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205. To give online the website is: www.etag.tv.
